Harry Potter Adventure

As a change from riding the underground and seeing London’s monuments, my group boarded the Harry Potter bus and headed for Leavesden and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour.    I’ll tell you now; it far exceeded my expectations!

Initial Impressions

Does “Wow” suffice?  After getting through the ticket area, we entered a large hall.  Here one could purchase food and souvenirs.

We took advantage of the break and settled ourselves for the tour to come.  It was an excellent time to people-watch, as many visitors came in costume.  Much of the tour relates to sets, props, and costumes.   One can also learn about visual effects and models.  The area seemed vast, and no detail was left out.  I’ll only mention a few so as not to spoil the surprises.

The Great Hall

One of the first places we entered was the Great Hall.  I felt like a first-year as I walked along the tables for each house.

The Gryffindor table with treats scattered everywhere.

My visit took place in October, so the hall was decorated for Halloween.  I hope that explains all the candy and sweets served to Gryffindor.  If I ever return, I’ll visit during a different season.  I wonder what it’s like at Christmas.

Costumes for the fourth Harry Potter film

Tempting as it was to show an image of Dumbledore as Head Master at the feast, I chose to add costumes seen throughout the tour.  For example, I opted for a photo from the ball held in the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  The purple lighting and jostling fans made shooting difficult.

My Yule Ball photos had too many visitors in the way.  Thank goodness that someone in our party got a shot.

Harry Potter Sets

One leaves the Great Hall to enter a large space featuring significant movie sets.  It’s thrilling to see these places up close.  For instance, Hagrid’s hut is featured in almost every book or movie.

You can also take a photo beside the Hogwarts Express or walk through the train as if you were traveling to Hogwarts.  But be careful; Death Eaters are on the prowl.

And more Harry Potter

There is so much to see,.  Walk along Privet Drive or check out Mr. Weasley’s flying car.  While these are fun, I also enjoyed strolling through the Creature Shop and the Art Department.

Be sure to see Hogwarts!

I could write more, but this post is already longer than most.  I hope you get to visit Warner Bros Studio UK.  To see more of my photos, please click here.
